Buyer's Guide
1.5g vs 1g Pre-Rolls
Bigger isn't just longer. It changes how the joint actually performs.
Most pre-rolls in this industry are 1 gram. It's the default. So when you see a 1.5g pre-roll, your brain says "50% more weed." That's true — but the real story is what an extra half-gram does to the actual smoking experience.
The Burn Difference
Here's the part nobody tells you. A 1g pre-roll burns hotter and faster because the cone is thinner. Thinner cones mean tighter pack — which means the cherry sits closer to your fingers, the paper-to-flower ratio is higher, and you taste more paper than terps in the back third.
A 1.5g cone is wider. Wider cones mean a slower, cooler burn. The terps survive longer. The flavor stays intact through the entire roll. The cherry stays evenly lit instead of canoeing.
The Dollar Math
| 1g pre-roll | $15 | $15/gram |
| 1.5g pre-roll | $20 | $13.33/gram |
The 1.5g format is almost always the better value per gram. You're paying less for the labor, the paper, and the packaging — and getting more flower.
When 1g Still Wins
- Solo sessions on a budget. If you smoke alone and a half-gram is all you'd burn anyway, 1g makes sense.
- Trying a new strain. Smaller commitment if it's not your vibe.
- Discreet packs. Smaller cones fit better in pocket-sized packs.
When 1.5g Wins
- Sessions with friends. One pre-roll, four people, lasts the whole conversation.
- Outdoor sessions where relighting is annoying. Bigger cones stay lit.
- You actually want to taste the strain. Wider burn = better terp expression.
